More than 15 lakhs aspirants appear in this exam each year for getting seats in 83, 075 MBBS, 26, 949 BDS, 52, 720 AYUSH, 603 BVSc & AH.

Year after year, number of medical aspirants is surging which is making this exam more challenging. And from above, there are some misconceptions which are floating in the mind of students preparing for NEET. Since any kind of doubt can affect your preparation, so it’s important to clear all, like –

a) Clearing NEET is not my cup of tea

Many students who are interested to have career in medical field, believe that they can’t clear this exam because it’s very difficult and only toppers can qualify. This’s not true. Question level of NEET is same for all appearers. If you want to become a medical professional, focus on your preparation and give priority to rigorous practice. You can definitely score well to have the desired seat in the best college.

b) Only Study & No Life

Another major conception among NEET aspirants is that one has to study, study and study only. There’s no life except that. Yes, it is true that students need to study for long hours if preparing for this medical exam. But, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the life. Keep the balance between study and other activities you are fond of. After all it’s important to keep our mind fresh & relaxed.

c) Drop a Year & Prepare Well

If you are thinking about NEET with such thought in mind, you are completely on the wrong path. For getting the high scores in this exam, you don’t need to waste the year. Start the preparation early by joining the foundation course at class 7, 8, 9 & 10. By doing so, you will get the sufficient time to understand the pattern of the exam, syllabus, practice the previous years’ sample papers and do the foolproof preparation.

d) Board exams & NEET preparation can’t go along

To your surprise, syllabus of 12th board & NEET is same. And since syllabus is same, just follow NCERT books for all subjects. You can prepare for both exams very well. No other books are needed.

e) Biology is the most scoring subject. So, focus on it more than other subjects.

There’s no deny that biology has an important role in this exam. But, you can’t overlook other subjects also – Physics & Chemistry. All subjects are equally important and require equal attention. You can’t prioritize one subject.

f) Solve as much questions as possible

Big no to this thought as there is negative marking in NEET exam. 1 mark will be deducted if your answer is incorrect. So, take the calculated step and answer only those questions which you are confirmed. Filling the OMR sheet will not avail you score the desired marks.
