Common Mistakes to Avoid While Doing IIT-JEE Preparation

Despite doing rigorous study for long hours, making strategy, using tips and appearing in practice tests, thousands of students fail to crack the exam of IIT-JEE. And the prominent reason behind this is – small mistakes which most of the aspirants do and don’t give much attention. As a result of which, they don’t do well in the exam. Here are some of the common mistakes which need to avoid if you are doing IIT-JEE exam preparation. 

 




a) Not having deep knowledge of syllabus
 
If you are gearing up for IIT-JEE preparation, give special emphasize on the syllabus and pattern. Always remember that you have to give objective question based test. Therefore, collect complete details about the exam syllabus, chapter and topic wise weightage and then study because it’s very natural to go off-track. So, study smartly with full details.

b) Not following a specific timetable

When you are preparing for JEE exam, every single minute becomes important. So, make an efficient timetable and strictly follow it every day. Allot equal time for study, notes preparation and doing practice paper daily. This will avail you improve the performance as well as enhance the knowledge level.

c) Not following NCERT Books

Those who do preparation for JEE exam without using NCERT books are surely on the wrong boat. NCERT books are known for having to the point and precise details, fundamental concepts and exercise questions which avail a lot in preparing for any competitive exam. These books enable you to solve complex questions with easy methods.

d) Instead of focusing only on favorite subject, give equal attention to all subjects

This’s the most common mistake which most of the JEE aspirants do – they emphasize only on specific subject and ignore others. If you are dedicated to crack JEE exam, you have to devote equal time to all subjects be it Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. All three subjects are important and contain equal weightage in the exam.

e) Don’t count number of hours you studied

If you count the hours spent in study, it can cost you. Instead of quantity, focus on quality of study. Try to solve questions in limited time, check your knowledge level and if needed, study more. IIT-JEE exam is the challenging exam and you can’t crack this exam just by studying for a few hours. Do practice paper daily and check the number of questions attempted and number of correct answers. This will avail you turn your weak points into strengths.

f) Overlooking doubts

Don’t ignore your queries while doing preparation. Feel free to consult your faculty and do the doubt clearance ASAP. This will help you save the time and study more in the right direction.

g) Don’t skip mock tests

If you are in mood to skip mock tests, remember it – you are doing a huge mistake. By appearing in mock tests, you can check the level of your preparation and improve it at the right time. Apart from it, you can work effectively on speeding up the performance and answering the questions more accurately.
