Significant Preparation Tips for IIT-JEE to Ensure Success!

IIT-JEE exam doesn’t need any introduction for those who aspire to do engineering from top colleges. Conducted in two stages – JEE Main & JEE Advanced, every year around 15 lakhs students appear in this exam to seek admission. However, very few make it. Those who are determined to crack this exam, need to do things in a certain way. If you are one of them, there is need of some effective as well as result oriented tips to do preparation in a right way. So, let’s begin!


Exam pattern, Question pattern & Marking system

With complete time duration of 3 hours, mode of this exam is online. Total number of questions asked is 90, in which 75 questions are compulsory. When it comes to type of questions, section A contains multiple choice questions which are 20 in numbers, while section B contains numerical based questions which are 10. Marking system includes 4 marks for every correct answer, -1 mark for every wrong answer and 0 mark for every unattempted answer. Total marks are 300.

Know your subject and Ensure that your concepts are clear

Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry are the main subjects. Except mathematics, science subjects possess concepts that require adequate time to understand and gain expertise. For having full conceptual knowledge, aspirants need to be well versed with 11th and 12th syllabus. Read each topic thoroughly and make sure that you understand everything. Stay in touch with faculties for doubt clearance and gain in-depth insight. This is very much important to boost your basics.
 
Formulas are equally important

Along with concepts, science subjects contain formulas too. Be habituated to do consistent and regular practice. Make a table of all important formulaes in an understandable language. It’s very essential that you understand each and every thing. So, instead of going through multiple books, prefer NCERT books and prepare your own notes.

No place for favorite subject

If you are preferring any particular subject, you are on a wrong boat. All subjects are equally important. So, don’t make any assumption like “this’s my favorite subject” or “this subject is not my cup of tea.”

Do revise regularly

Do practice and do it every day. Prepare a study routine you can follow easily and be consistent on that. Allot specific time for new chapters as well as revision. This will avail you keep active in preparation and you can experience more easiness in completing the syllabus also.
 
Stay away from misconceptions

IIT-JEE is one of the famous exams of our country. So, it’s very common to find several myths about it. However, don’t fall for it. Be in touch with your mentors and clear every doubt immediately.

Hard work is a key to success

When you are preparing for an exam that is your dream, do the best you can. Focus on each and every topic and chapter because all are significant. You can’t judge that this one is more important and another one is less. Get ready to do precise study and rigorous practice for long hours. However, with long hours, it doesn’t mean that you start studying continuously for 12-16 hours. Nobody can do this for a long time. Therefore, give priority to quality study and conceptual clarity. Take good care of your health and do activities that make you stressful.
